Hey there, friend!
Welcome to the Peabody’s Parlor blog! Here you’ll find everything from salon updates to styling tips to keep you in-the-know on what we’re up to on the Peabody’s team. I’m so excited to share these monthly blog posts with you in the new year!
As we close out 2021, I have done some serious evaluating of my business and how it has grown through the pandemic. And believe me, a LOT has changed these last two years. But with a new year comes new goals, and by evaluating the current state of the business, I can also make plans for what’s to come in 2022!
My goal is to be transparent with you, our clients, so I want to take this opportunity to share with you where we are in our business and where we’re headed. I’m so grateful to have you along for the ride with our team, so let’s chat about what the ride looks like!
My styling staff is filled with some of the most wonderful people in the world. Over the course of 2021, a few of our team members have found success in other avenues, and I could not be prouder of their accomplishments. This has left our remaining team working hard to serve as many clients as they can, which can be challenging with fewer stylists behind the chair.
As I work on recruiting more stylists to join our family, it may take a bit longer than normal to schedule an appointment with the stylists we have. We ask for your patience and understanding as we attempt to meet your hair needs without overscheduling our stylists. Our pros are fun; burnout is not.
Speaking of stylists…
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve decided to alter my recruitment process for future stylists hoping to join the Peabody’s family. When I began the Peabody’s Prep School model, I was exclusively recruiting fresh-faced newbies who had perhaps just graduated from cosmetology school, and started them on our intensive, year-long apprenticeship. However, I realized that it was silly to deny experienced stylists the opportunity to be on the team just because they weren’t new to the field. The salon industry is changing immensely, and just like any other industry, a stylist might decide that they’re current position is no longer a good fit for them. And if Peabody’s is a great fit for them and vice versa, that’s all that matters, right?
With that in mind, I switched gears a bit and expanded my recruitment reach. I am absolutely still accepting newer, fresh-out-of-school stylists, but I’ve also opened up the application opportunity for stylists with more years under their belts. If you want to be a part of our team, we want to talk to you, no matter where you’re at in your career! (pssst, spread the word!)
A Team of Leadership Rockstars
If you subscribe to our newsletter (and if you don’t, you really should), you might already know that some of our team members have stepped into leadership positions to help me navigate the changes. Brandon and Kylie have both approached me with ideas on how we can improve our business, and I am so excited to say that the three of us have formed a leadership team to work on solution-focused thinking within the salon. We are planning to have a vision casting party after the first of the year to talk about how we can make 2022 our best year yet! I am so grateful to have such a strong and dedicated team, and because of their initiative and prowess, I cannot wait to see what we can come up with for the new year.
All This To Say…
It’s been another weird year, and it’s brought on a lot of change. It’s all good change, but even good change takes time to process. We appreciate your patience and your support, and we cannot wait to see you next year!
