Hi, friends!

Whew. 2022 has been a hell of a year, and we’re barely over the halfway point.

I’m sure you’ve seen our emails and social media posts over the last week, and you’re probably thinking, What the fuck is happening? Closing down? Canceling appointments? Has Steffanie gone crazy?

To be honest, maybe it is a little crazy. But if you want to make real change, sometimes you gotta do something crazy, right? And I want to make real, life-altering, radical change, for my team, for our brand, and for you guys.

So strap in, y’all, cuz it’s gonna keep being a wild ride.

Being The Change…Right Now

Here’s the thing, guys. I have a very small circle of people who I really care deeply about. And for those people, I will lay it all on the line. I do what it takes to protect my own, and that’s an energy I’ve tried to bring into Peabody’s Parlor with our team-first mentality and tight knit family of weirdos.

Brandon and Kylie are two people in that small circle. They are two of the most dedicated, talented, brilliant human beings I know, and I feel so lucky and proud to have them on my team. They’ve been with me since the early days of my business. They’ve stood with me through all the ups and downs, and I’ll stand by them, no matter what.

Earlier this month during our one-on-one meetings, some topics arose that we needed to address. And over and over again, I heard the same message:

Next year.

Next year we’ll do this, next year we should think about that. I don’t think this is uncommon language in the business world. So often, when it comes to big decisions, we wait to make moves until next quarter, next year, next fiscal period, what have you. I’ve been taught to think this way, and now, I’ve passed that message on to my team.

But why wait?

Like I said, we’re barely over halfway through this year. There’s a lot of time left to wait until next year. But the things we need to address are happening now, and I don’t want to put off change that I know is for the better. If we’re going to revolutionize the salon industry the way we’ve always talked about doing, then it’s time to reset and figure out a new game plan.

So, what’s next, Steff?

Well, if I’m being honest, I’m not 100% sure. But in the midst of all the unknowns, here is what I do know:

  • COVID kicked our asses a little bit. But guess what? It did the same to a lot of our industry. Does it hurt? Yes, but that doesn’t mean the industry is gonna disappear forever. We’ll be fine, but we need some time to heal.
  • I have an amazing leadership team that is working their asses off to mark Peabody’s the best salon experience you can possibly imagine. I am so proud of all that they’ve accomplished thus far and all that they continue to do for the name of the company.
  • We have a group of stellar partners who are currently training to bring you the best haircare and salon experience. Soon enough, they’ll be the best damn Peabody’s pros you’ve ever seen.
  • We’ve developed a marketing team that’s dedicated to bringing you consistent, clear communication related to the brand, so as soon as we have news, you will too.
  • We have the Emporium, which is filled with purposefully chosen products to bring you more of the holistic lifestyle brand that Peabody’s is so proud of.
  • Our values are everything to us. So, wherever we go from here, our new system will be one that still allows us to be true to ourselves, without sacrificing the things that are most important to us.

We would be nowhere without the support of our badass clients, so for that, I just want to thank you so, so much. We are so grateful for you, and I’m sorry that we have to do things like cancel appointments in order to get to where we need to be. But I promise you, it’ll be worth it, and right now, we need your support more than ever.

In order to survive these growing pains, I am asking for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support through our Emporium. Until we are able to serve you behind the chair, we can still serve you with take-home products and lifestyle brands that I personally love and stand behind. Each product is chosen intentionally and is meant to enhance your holistic wellbeing, which is one of our top values at the salon.

I encourage you to support not only Peabody’s, but also the small businesses that created these amazing products by checking out a new and interesting find that will make your daily life a little brighter. You win, small businesses win, Peabody’s wins. It’s a win-win-win.
